His firsthand experience with hospitals has nothing to do with singer and property businessman Ikang Fawzi’s plan to build one.

“”People want to get better medical treatment with a smile. My hospital will be full of smiles, and there will be no hostile or unpleasant services,”" Ikang said of his Smiling Hospital, located in the Cikarang areaof West Java.

The singer is recovering from typhus, which he contracted after waiting for the recovery of his actress wife Marissa Haque from surgery. “”Maybe because of lack of rest and sleep,”" he said.

His hospital is now 65 percent completed and Ikang is getting himself ready to hire employees, including nurses.

“”They will be tested and we will provide them with a course. But basically, they should have a beautiful smile … ,”" he said teasingly.

Ikang’s hospital business, however, has taken its toll on his singing career. It has been sometime since the singer, known for his Preman metropolitan (Metropolitan hoodlum) song, has released a new album. Producers have not exactly been queuing up to buy the songs he has written. “”I’ve been working on them (the songs) for two years, but no producers have been willing to take them on,”" said the owner of Music Caf, with clear disappointment.
